Immigration to Canada is a privilege not a right. If you want to visit Canada you must meet the necessary requirements and submit a TRV application package. You will be permitted to visit Canada for a maximum of six months.
If you do not require a Temporary Resident Visa you can simply appear at any port of entry with your passport and indicate to the Immigration Officer that you want to visit Canada temporarily for purposes of visiting family, friends, business or even for sightseeing.
As the rules keep changing regularly for those keen to visit or immigrate to Canada, our professional services and advice can save you a lot of money and time.
Unlike long-term work visas and business visas, the only financial requirement placed upon visit visa applicants is that they must be able to support themselves throughout their stay in Canada. Although a visit visa does not permit the candidate to take up any form of employment whilst in the country, it does allow short term courses of study to be undertaken provided the duration of the course does not exceed the six-month period of leave granted by the visa.
Applicants wanting to visit Canada as tourists must demonstrate that it is their intention to returnto their country of residence prior to the expiry date of their visit visa.
Types of Temporary Resident Visas for Canada
Single Entry Visa:
Allows you to enter Canada just once. A single-entry visa is normally valid for six months.
Multiple Entry Visa:
Allows you to enter Canada as many times as you wish during the validity of your Visit or stay in Canada.
Make sure you have health insurance to pay for your medical costs as Canada does not provide free medical services or facilities for visitors. Be sure to purchase travel health insurance before you leave for Canada.
Notable requirements to visit Canada:
Letter of invitation:
Some visitors who require a Temporary Resident Visa to visit Canada are asked to provide a letter of invitation from someone in Canada. An invitation letter is usually needed if you are going to Canada to visit a friend, family member or for a conference or Business Meeting. All you need to do is ask your friend or the organizers of the conference to send you an invitation letter. Most conference organizers know that many countries require invitation letters.
The letter must be written by a resident of Canada and preferable to have it attested by a lawyer/Notary Public or Oath Commissioner in Canada. The letter should then be sent to the person who is invited to Canada. The applicant must include the letter with his/her application for a Temporary Resident Visa.
Please note that many Conference organizers will be happy to provide this letter if you ask them. They provide this because not many visitors from other countries visit their stalls or business offices at exhibitions or conferences from countries other than Canada.
